David Thompson has tapped into a popular gaming niche and he deserves all the success that he has earned. I met him for the first time at SDCC, a great guy and an extraordinarily talented addition to our hobby.

To all, I highly recommend Grant’s video with Volko, it’s long but well worth your time!

Grant, you will really enjoy OST, I am certain.

Finally yes, more Norman Conquests coverage please. :)

Just finished listening to the episode, another excellent episode. I was introduced to David Thompson games with War Chest so when Undaunted series came out, I got them immediately. Played all the Normandy game scenarios but still haven't played any of the others. Keep up the podcasts, love them.

Thanks for the plug on the Volko video. He was great. What really popped out to me was the way he broke down strategy and options while demoing his game. It wasn't so much he was demoing strategy, but just obviously that  that is how he approaches game play. Looking at all the options and possibilities, thinking of deceptions and fake deceptions. Really cool.

And some real Norman Conquests coverage to come for sure.

Like you, I've just finished up the Normandy scenarios. I'm not sure if we are going to do the Normandy scens from the Reinforcements expansion next, or move on to North Africa. Either way, I have to do some VASSAL module making as the current VASSAL module only has the  Normandy scenarios.

Hi there! Really enjoy your podcast and had kinda forgotten about it and now back. I wanted to mention something around the comment at the beginning of the episode about fictitious board game as art or playing something for the experience and not for replay.

A game designer named Brenda Romero (yes, partner to Id/Doom/Quake John Romero) made a board game called Train which was part of a series of games she called "The Mechanic is the Message" where the game mechanics tell the story. You can read more about it here:  en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Train_(board_game)

As for board games being in museums, "Train has been displayed at museums in  Georgia Tech , [1]  and  De Anza College . [8] "

Thought your listeners, or at least the one who wrote in, would like to know!
