Episode 019 - Jerry White Goes West

Great episode with Jerry White!  

I had someone recommend Atlantic Chase to me a while back, but I wasn't quite convinced.  I happened to buy Skies Above Britain on a whim and fell in love with the rulebook and system.  One of the best solitaire air war games I've played.  Now I'm circling back to check out more Jerry White designs, and looking into Atlantic Chase again.  Actually, I think I might be more excited for Pacific Chase since I tend to be slightly more interested in the Pacific Theater.  I also P500 Infernal Machines based on theme alone not realizing that Jerry White was one of the designers at the time.

Atlantic Chase is a real groundbreaker. His trajectory system is as new to naval games as CDGs or Area-Impulse was to land games. On top of that, the rulebook is excellent and the tutorial scenarios guide you through it and are fun at the same time.

Just got Atlantic Chase recently at a great sale on CSI.

I totally agree! And yet Jerry is such a self-effacing guy that when I tried to tell him how good I thought it was, he just said something like, "Well, some people don't like it. I ahve to find a way to write better for them." Amazing.
